Nestle USA announced a $150 million investment to expand its production facility in Cherokee County, South Carolina. The facility, which was established in 1980, will receive upgrades with modern technology and automation, as well as a new production line for frozen meals. This investment is part of the company’s goal to update its operations and capabilities.
The expansion was met with praise from local officials, including South Carolina’s Governor Henry McMaster, who applauded the decision, stating that it will strengthen local communities. The Secretary of Commerce, Harry M. Lightsey III, called the investment a “major victory” for the area, while the Commissioner of Agriculture, Hugh Weathers, commended Nestle’s contribution to the local economy and job creation efforts.
Nestle is one of the largest food companies in the world, operating over 340 factories across 77 countries, and employing over 275,000 people. In the US, Nestle has 96 production facilities, with 33,000 employees, and in North America, there are over 3,700 employees across nine locations in Canada. The expansion is set to create new jobs and opportunities in the area, further solidifying Nestle’s presence in the community.
