Chevrolet Teams Up with Walmart for Electric Vehicle Delivery Vans, Launching November 1, 2024

Walmart is introducing a new fleet of electric delivery vans, made by Chevrolet, to support its InHome delivery service in major US markets. The vans are designed to provide safe, efficient, and comfortable transportation for Walmart associates who deliver groceries directly to customers’ homes. The vans underwent a pilot test with General Motors, and associates praised their performance, citing features like the surround vision camera, blind-zone steering assist, and battery range. The low-step ergonomic design also made it easy for drivers to enter and exit the vehicles. The vans will be used in six cities by the end of the year, including Austin, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, northwest Arkansas, Orlando, and the San Francisco Bay area, as Walmart expands its delivery service to 62 million households nationwide. In a Michigan rally, Trump pledged to revive the auto industry, but what’s the current state of the sector?

Former President Donald Trump held a rally in Novi, Michigan, where he promised to save the auto industry in the state and bring back manufacturing jobs. Despite this, industry experts believe the Michigan auto industry is already thriving, with hundreds of thousands of new jobs created over the last four years. The US auto industry as a whole is stronger than it has been in years, with the electric vehicle (EV) market seeing a 10% increase this year. General Motors is expected to hit record earnings this year, while Stellantis’ sales have been declining. Experts attribute some of the issues to Stellantis’ own mistakes, such as poor product decisions. The Biden administration has also announced a $325 million grant to help build a new semiconductor plant in Saginaw County. Many autoworkers are now earning better pay and benefits, with companies like LG planning to produce batteries for the Ford Mustang Mach-E in Michigan starting in 2025.

A team of adventurers from Michigan, sponsored by Chevrolet, is gearing up for a thrilling return to the Mammoth Rally after a action-packed experience last time around.

Nicole McKinnon and Kristen Goslawski, a team of two women, met at the airport before participating in the 2,500-kilometer Rebelle Rally, a high-stress, eight-day off-roading and navigational contest. They quickly became close friends, starting with a straightforward conversation where they asked each other about potential health issues and what to watch out for. McKinnon, a performance/motorsports engineer with Chevrolet, and Goslawski, an engine and electrification analysis lead engineer with General Motors, were among dozens of women who participated in the rally. They came in 5th among rookie teams and 27th overall, despite facing mental and physical challenges. The duo practiced for the Enduro stages, which included navigating strict timing controls and finding checkpoints, and even earned a perfect score. They credited their hobbies, such as McKinnon’s bow hunting and Goslawski’s language skills, for helping them during the rally. They hope to return next year, representing Chevrolet and possibly bringing other teams along.

Chevrolet’s sales in Argentina plummeted 4.3% in September 2024, marking a dip in the company’s performance in the South American market.

In September 2024, General Motors (GM) reported a 4.3 percent decline in sales for Chevrolet in Argentina, compared to the same period the previous year. The decline is attributed to a challenging market environment and increased competition. Despite the decline, Chevrolet remains a strong brand in the Argentine market, with a market share of 24.1 percent.
Among the Chevrolet models available in Argentina, the Spark and the Classic were the best-selling models, with 2,346 and 1,364 units sold, respectively, in September 2024. The Spark is a popular subcompact car that targets young buyers, while the Classic is a sedan that is popular among taxi drivers and daily commuters.
Chevrolet continues to invest in its Argentine operations, with plans to introduce new models and improve its dealership network. The company is also focused on providing excellent customer service and offers a range of promotion and financing options to attract and retain customers.

When Chevrolet introduced those impractical air filters on the Vega, it sparked widespread discontent among customers.I removed the insensitive language (Pissed Everyone Off and Dumb) and rephrased the sentence to convey a more neutral and objective tone.

The problematic air cleaner design in the Chevrolet Vega, produced from 1970 to 1974, is a lesser-known flaw in the car’s history. The air cleaner was designed as a single, sealed metal housing with the filter element inside, which made it more expensive and annoying to replace. Unlike other cars of the era, the Vega’s air cleaner did not have a removable filter element, requiring owners to buy the entire assembly to replace. This design was part of a larger effort by General Motors to cut costs and simplify production. However, it led to frustration for owners and mechanics, who had to find workarounds, such as prying open the housing to access the filter or purchasing aftermarket solutions. The Vega’s air cleaner design was not a widespread trend, and modern cars typically have more user-friendly air filter designs.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Leaves Other Exotics in Its Dust

Mark Reuss, General Motors’ President, has a need for speed and recently got his wish granted. As a test driver, Reuss got to pilot the new 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which boasts a 1,064-hp V8 engine, making it the most powerful V8 ever offered by a Big Three automaker. Reuss joined the test team at a German high-speed test track, where the car reached an incredible 233 mph, breaking the record for the fastest production car ever built by a major U.S. automaker. The previous record was held by the 2019 Corvette ZR1, which reached 212 mph. The new Corvette ZR1 is expected to be priced around $160,000, making it the fastest car in the world under $1 million, including Ferrari and Lamborghini models. Reuss’s achievement is a historic one, and it’s possible he may need to return to the test track soon to push the new top-secret Corvette prototype, which may reach speeds over 240 mph.

The iconic Corvette ZR1 shatters speed records, solidifying its place as the swiftest vehicle in General Motors’ prestigious history.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has set a record for the fastest speed ever achieved by a production car, reaching a top speed of 375 km/h. The feat was accomplished by GM President Mark Reuss, who drove the ZR1 at the ATP Automotive Testing facility in Germany. The car was equipped with a twin-turbocharged 5.5L V8 engine producing 1,064 horsepower and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The ZR1 surpassed the performance of prestigious rivals like the Lamborghini Revuelto and Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
The car’s exceptional speed is due to its aerodynamic package, with a two-piece rear window designed to improve airflow and downforce. A $200,000 price tag is expected for the ZR1, making it a record for an American sports car. The ZR1 is expected to arrive in dealerships in 2023. Rumors suggest a future Zora model, with an electric motor, could surpass the ZR1’s performance, but no official confirmation has been made. The ZR1’s achievement marks a milestone in the company’s history and solidifies its position as a high-performance leader.

The all-new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 shattered the 233mph barrier, becoming the first American-produced vehicle to ever claim this remarkable speed.

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has been officially announced as the fastest car ever built by an American auto manufacturer, achieving a top speed of 233 mph. The record was set at a test track in Germany, where General Motors President Mark Reuss drove the car to break the speed barrier. The ZR1 features a mid-engine design, which allows for increased performance and innovation. It is powered by a 5.5L, twin-turbocharged LT7 DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine, producing 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. The car’s advanced features include a carbon fiber aero package and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The ZR1 can reach 0-60 mph in under 10 seconds and has a quarter-mile time of around 10 seconds. The car’s design is also a nod to the past, with a split rear window reminiscent of earlier Corvette models.
