Walmart plans to expand its InHome grocery delivery service to 62 million US households, and to support this growth, it will deploy Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 vans in seven regions by the end of the year. The BrightDrop 400 is a purpose-built electric van produced at General Motors’ CAMI Assembly plant in Ontario, Canada. The van features advanced safety features such as a 360-degree HD Surround Vision camera, blind-zone steering assist, and auto-closing doors. Walmart’s InHome associates participated in a pilot with GM to test the vans in live operations, and the company was impressed by their performance. The deployment of these vans is part of Walmart’s efforts to improve the efficiency and safety of its delivery operations.
