Sterling Biotech, a joint venture between Perfect Day and Zydus, has started building the world’s first precision fermentation-based dairy protein manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India. The 27-acre facility, expected to be operational by Q1 2026, will produce sustainable dairy proteins to meet the growing global demand for sustainable food ingredients. The facility’s capacity is already fully booked, reflecting strong market interest. The project marks a significant milestone in transforming the global food industry, said Perfect Day CEO TM Narayan, noting that precision fermentation technology can create high-quality dairy proteins without the environmental footprint of traditional methods. The facility will enable the production of fermentation-based dairy proteins that are better for the planet and meet diverse customer needs. The facility is designed to be a large-scale production hub for precision fermentation-based dairy proteins and has provisions for future expansion. The project aims to contribute to a more resilient and sustainable global food ecosystem.
