Mercedes-Benz India has announced plans to expand its luxury presence in two emerging markets, Faridabad and Agra, in a bid to tap into the growing demand for luxury vehicles in tier 2 and 3 cities. The company has inaugurated new state-of-the-art facilities in these cities, marking a significant investment in the region. Agra, in particular, has been identified as an important market for Mercedes-Benz, with a growing demand for its ultra-luxury portfolio.
This expansion is part of the company’s strategy to increase its luxury touchpoints across India, with a focus on Tier 2 and 3 cities. Mercedes-Benz already has a strong presence in Uttar Pradesh with a luxury facility in Lucknow. The company aims to unveil at least eight new models in 2025, and plans to launch 20 new touchpoints by the end of this year.
The German automobile manufacturer has committed to investing Rs 450 crore in India over the next three years, and has also announced plans to launch its much-awaited ‘AMG GLE 53 Coupe’ model in Q2 this year. The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to advance India’s manufacturing ecosystem, road safety, and environmental sustainability.
Mercedes-Benz has the largest luxury network in the country, with over 100 luxury touchpoints spread across more than 50 cities. The company has been performing well in the Indian market, with a record sales of 19,565 units in 2024, clocking its best year in 30 years. The company’s growth is driven by the resilient economy and increasing demand for luxury vehicles in Tier 2 and 3 cities.
