Volkswagen has updated the prices of its mid-size SUV, the Taigun, affecting some variants more than others. The Taigun’s Highline 1.0 AT and Highline 1.0 MT variants have seen a price reduction of Rs. 1.43 lakh and Rs. 88,500, respectively. On the other hand, the GT 1.5 MT and GT 1.5 DSG variants maintain their current prices. However, all other variants of the Taigun have witnessed a hike of up to Rs. 13,000.
The Taigun offers two engine options – a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, TSI petrol engine. These engines are paired with a range of transmission options including a six-speed manual, six-speed torque converter automatic, and a seven-speed DSG automatic unit.
It is worth noting that while some prices have been reduced, the overall price of the Taigun has not been drastically changed. The update is likely aimed at aligning the pricing with the current market conditions and to make it more competitive in the mid-size SUV segment, which includes rivals such as the Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and more.
Meanwhile, the company has also announced that it will be launching the prices of the new Tiguan R-Line later this month. The R-Line trim is expected to be a more premium variant of the Tiguan, and its prices will likely reflect its upgraded features and specifications. Overall, the price update of the Taigun is expected to have a limited impact on the market, but the introduction of the R-Line trim could shake things up in the premium SUV segment.
