A 33-year-old man, Alfredo Hernandez Murrieta, was arrested for his second DUI offense after being found passed out behind the wheel of a Jeep with shredded tires and multiple open beer bottles, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to a report of a possible drunk driver on Ferry Road at 5:29 a.m. on March 22. Upon arrival, they found the Jeep blocking a private driveway and still in drive, with the driver, Murrieta, unconscious behind the wheel. Once awakened, deputies noted multiple signs of intoxication, including a lack of coordination and slurred speech.

Further investigation revealed that there were open containers of alcohol in plain view inside the vehicle, and a search of Murrieta’s records showed that he did not have a valid driver’s license and had a prior DUI conviction. As a result, Murrieta was charged with DUI second offense within five years with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .20, reckless driving, and second offense driving without a license. He was also charged with drinking while driving. Murrieta is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. This is a serious case of impaired driving, and it’s lucky that nobody was injured due to his reckless behavior. It is crucial to address the issue of drunk driving to ensure the safety of the public.
