TVS Indeon, a 100% subsidiary of Lucas TVS, a leading automotive electrical components manufacturer, has announced the inauguration of its expanded battery pack production facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thervoy Kandigai, near Gummidipoondi. The facility, which had started operations in 2024, has a current production capacity of 1 GWh and can manufacture 1,500 battery packs daily. With the ramp-up of production, TVS Indeon plans to double its output to 1,000 packs per day, employing over 200 people and introducing a second shift operation. The company aims to reach its maximum capacity by March 2026.
The enhanced production facility will cater to the growing demand for lithium-ion battery packs in the e-mobility and energy storage segments, which supplies exclusively to TVS Motor Company. The facility is expected to play a key role in the company’s vision of producing affordable e-mobility solutions with improved quality and safety.
According to T K Balaji, Chairman and Managing Director of Lucas TVS and TVS Indeon, the expansion “marks a key step in our journey towards producing affordable e-mobility solutions with improved quality and safety. In addition to producing battery packs, TVS Indeon is establishing the groundwork for a more sustainable, greener and cleaner future.”
The new facility is a significant step in the company’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future. With its enhanced production capacity, TVS Indeon is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions in the e-mobility and energy storage sectors.
