BYD Cars Philippines has launched a range of sustainable offerings, aimed at leading the charge in electrification locally. The company’s recent release, the Seal 5 DM-i, is a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) that combines an electric motor with an internal combustion engine (ICE). According to a test drive by Zigwheels Philippines, the SEAL 5 DM-i Dynamic is capable of offering a range of 1,175 kilometers, thanks to its 8.3-kilowatt-hour Blade battery.
The vehicle’s hybrid powertrain, which uses an EV-first approach, allows the electric motor to take priority, leaving the 1.5-liter gasoline powerplant to act as the generator. This results in a smooth and quiet ride, with the vehicle able to accelerate quickly and respond well to driver input. The SEAl 5 DM-i Dynamic is also equipped with ventilated disc brakes at the front and solid disc brakes at the rear, providing ample stopping power.
The vehicle’s tech-savvy cabin features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. It also comes with a range of amenities, including automatic air conditioning, voice assistant, over-the-air update capability, leather seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The SEAl 5 DM-i Dynamic is priced at P948,000, making it an attractive option for those looking for a sustainable and tech-savvy vehicle. The company’s commitment to electrification is evident in its range of offerings, and the SEAl 5 DM-i Dynamic is a key example of this effort.
