Recent patent images have emerged online, revealing Hero MotoCorp’s plans to challenge the dominant Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure with its own off-road capable motorcycle, the Hero XPulse 421. The new model is expected to be a more aggressive and powerful variant of the XPulse series, with a focus on off-road capability and durability.

The patent images show a more angular and aggressive design language, with a raised seat height, longer travel suspension, and a wider wheelbase than the standard XPulse. The design appears to be heavily influenced by the Himalayan, with a similar fuel tank shape and a more pronounced beak-like front end. The bike’s dimensions are expected to be similar to the Himalayan, with a seat height around 800mm and a ground clearance of around 220mm.

The Hero XPulse 421 is expected to be powered by a new 432cc, single-cylinder engine, which is likely to produce around 40-45 horsepower and 35-40 Nm of torque. This is significantly more powerful than the standard XPulse’s 124.7cc, single-cylinder engine, which produces 19.4 horsepower and 13.9 Nm of torque.

The XPulse 421’s engine is expected to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, with a slip-permitted clutch and a riding mode select switch. The bike is also expected to feature a more advanced ABS system, with Cornering ABS and a Quickshifter.

The Hero XPulse 421 is expected to be a direct rival to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure, and will likely be priced around the same range as these motorcycles. The bike is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2023, with global rollout to follow later in the year.

The Hero XPulse 421 will be a significant addition to the company’s lineup, providing a more aggressive and off-road capable option for customers who demand more power and durability from their adventure motorcycles. With its aggressive design language, increased power output, and advanced features, the XPulse 421 is expected to be a serious contender in the growing adventure motorcycle segment.
