BYD, a Chinese automaker, has launched Australia’s first electric car under $30,000, the Dolphin, which starts at $25,490. This is $6900 cheaper than its original entry price. The Dolphin is a sub-$30,000 electric car that rivals the GWM Ora, MG4 Excite, and Nissan Leaf. The car features a compact size, with a range of up to 405km on a single charge. BYD has also launched a cheaper option for its mid-sized electric SUV, the Atto 3, which now starts at $32,990, a reduction of $4500. The Atto 3 has a range of up to 563km on a single charge and features a premium interior. Both the Dolphin and Atto 3 are aimed at making electric vehicles more accessible to a wider audience. These affordable options may attract buyers who are considering electric vehicles but were previously deterred by the higher price point.
