Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first battery electric vehicle, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, on January 17, 2025, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The e Vitara is built on the Heartect-e platform and will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant, with production starting in March 2025. The electric SUV will be exported to Europe, Japan, and other countries, with almost 50% of the total units produced earmarked for exports. The e Vitara is based on the eVX concept model and has been teased for the first time. The specifications of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara are not yet out, but the European-spec Suzuki e Vitara has been unveiled, offering two battery options (49kWh and 61kWh) and two drive system choices (2WD and 4WD). The e Vitara is expected to have a range of over 500km on a single full charge and will compete with other electric SUVs in the Indian market, including the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV. The expected price range of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara in India is around Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom).
