Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has started production of its first subcompact SUV, the Kylaq, at its facility in Chakan, Pune. The company has invested in local suppliers to optimize production and reduce costs, reflecting its commitment to the Indian market and the “Make in India” initiative. The Kylaq is designed to meet Indian consumers’ demands for safety, comfort, and style, with features such as strong safety features and a dynamic driving experience. The vehicle will be priced at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom) and deliveries will start in January 2025. SAVWIPL aims to expand its sales and service network to 350 locations by 2025. The company has also incorporated eco-friendly materials, such as bamboo fiber, into the Kylaq’s interior, aligning with its sustainability goals.
