Dongfeng Honda has opened its first production plant dedicated to new energy vehicles (NEVs) in Wuhan, China. The plant, which is now operational and open for public tours, has an annual production capacity of 120,000 units and initially produces the Lingxi L and Ye S7 models. The facility features advanced automation and intelligent systems, including over 400 robots and 260 automated guided vehicles, as well as state-of-the-art quality inspection technologies. The plant’s digital workflow is enabled by eight general systems and five workshop-specific digital systems, allowing for seamless production and quality control. Honda plans to launch two new pure electric models, the Ye S7 and Ye GT, in 2025, and aims to offer ten pure EV models in China by 2027. By 2035, the company plans to have a 100% pure EV sales portfolio. The Ye S7, produced at the new facility, features Honda’s innovative W architecture and offers customizable driving modes.
