BYD’s Xi’an plant in China has reached a milestone, producing over 1 million vehicles for the first time in a year. The plant, which has been in operation for 20 years, has four assembly lines running simultaneously, with a daily output of 4,000 to 4,400 vehicles. This achievement is part of BYD’s plan to exceed 4 million annual sales for the first time. The company’s Xi’an plant is its largest single automotive plant in China and has been a major contributor to the country’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market. In 2022, Xi’an produced 1.02 million NEVs, accounting for 14% of all NEVs in China. BYD’s sales of NEVs have been growing steadily, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 40.25% in the January-November period. The company’s chief scientist has predicted that BYD could achieve annual sales of 4.25 million vehicles in 2024.
BYD’s largest production base has produced more than 1 million vehicles so far this year.
