Bajaj Auto, a leading two-wheeler manufacturer, is planning to launch a range of two-wheelers powered by compressed biogas (CBG) in the Indian market. CEO Rajiv Bajaj revealed this information during a recent event in Pune, where he highlighted the importance of sustainability and reducing emissions. The company has been successful in the CNG segment, having sold 27,000 units of its Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle in the domestic market. The Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle was launched in July and boasts a 2 kg CNG tank and a 2 liter petrol tank.
According to the company’s claims, the CNG-powered bike emits 26.7% less CO2 than a petrol-powered bike. Bajaj Auto has a strong presence in the electric and CNG segments, accounting for around 44% of its domestic revenue. The company is expected to take around 2-3 years to launch the biogas-powered two-wheelers. The news has created excitement among customers, who are looking forward to having access to a new mode of sustainable transportation. With this move, Bajaj Auto aims to drive change and reduce the environmental impact of its products.
