A 22-year-old youth from Srinagar’s Sonawar area has accused a local vehicle dealer of cheating him after purchasing an Ashok Leyland XL Dost vehicle on finance. The vehicle developed repeated mechanical issues, including sudden stops while driving, which has made it impossible for him to earn a livelihood. The youth, Mehraj Ahmed, claims that the company and dealer he bought the vehicle from assured him that the problem would be resolved through maintenance, but despite multiple repair attempts, the issue still persists. Frustrated and disappointed, Mehraj is considering registering a police complaint against the dealer and company, alleging that they sold him a defective vehicle and failed to provide a permanent solution. He had purchased the vehicle to start a small business and support himself, but instead, it has become a source of financial and emotional stress.
