Mahindra & Mahindra has launched two new electric SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, in India. The company has committed an investment of Rs 4,500 crore for the development of these two models, which is part of its overall Rs 16,000 crore capex for the electric vehicle business between FY22-27. The production capacity for these models will be 90,000 units per annum at its Chakan-based plant, which can be scaled up to 1.2 lakh units per annum. The entry-level variants of the BE 6e and XEV 9e are priced at Rs 18.9 lakh and Rs 21.9 lakh, respectively. The company plans to roll out a go-to-market strategy for these models in a phased manner in January 2025, with deliveries expected to commence in February-March 2025. Mahindra aims to create lifestyle products that are accessible and affordable, and plans to establish the brand in the domestic market before expanding to overseas markets. The company is also bringing in specialists from luxury and premium brands to provide a pre-purchase drive experience and dedicated support for customer experience.
