Mahindra, an Indian automaker, is partnering with Toyota to create a bulletproof version of the Toyota Land Cruiser. The project, code-named “desert storm,” aims to create a highly durable and protected vehicle for use in high-risk environments. The bulletproofing will be done by Mahindra’s special vehicle division, which has expertise in creating armored vehicles for military and government agencies. The Land Cruiser will be heavily modified with additional armor plating, reinforced glass, and strengthened suspension to withstand gunfire, mine blasts, and other forms of trauma. The bulletproofing will also include annealing, which involves heating and cooling metal to make it more flexible and resistant to penetration. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, with the first batch of 50 vehicles to be delivered to the Indian Army. The bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser will be designed to operate in extreme temperatures and terrain conditions, making it suitable for use in areas such as deserts, mountains, and forests.
