The Motoverse Slide School in Goa introduced attendees to the changes made by Royal Enfield to the FT450 motorcycle. Instructor Johnny provided a brief tour of the track and demonstrated techniques for going sideways on dirt. Initially, the writer was skeptical about handling the FT450 on dirt, but after just one lap, they found it to be instant fun due to its agile chassis, 40bhp engine, and wide handlebar. The writer had to focus on body positioning and vision to achieve good slides, as the rear end would often slide out when cornering. The motorcycle’s strong mid-range was evident, but the lack of low-end torque was noticeable. To address this, Royal Enfield installed the Fuel X system, which provided better low-end torque and improved exits. The writer found the motorcycle’s intuitive chassis allowed them to correct mistakes and overall had a thrilling experience on the FT450.
