In a recent drag race, the BMW M2 competed against the Audi RS 3 and Mercedes-AMG A 45 S. While the M2 is a powerful car, it wasn’t exactly competitive against its rivals. The Audi RS 3, with its 2.5L turbocharged inline-five engine, produced 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, and dominated the race with a 3.4-second 0-60mph time and a quarter-mile run of 11.6 seconds at 127mph. The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S, with its 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 416 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, was hot on the RS 3’s heels, completing the 0-60mph sprint in 3.5 seconds and the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds at 125mph.
The BMW M2, with its 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 405 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, struggled to keep up, taking 4.2 seconds to reach 0-60mph and a quarter-mile time of 12.6 seconds at 114mph. The M2’s poor showing can be attributed to its heavier weight and less-aggressive gearing, which didn’t allow it to launch as quickly or maintain high speeds as effectively as its rivals. Overall, while the M2 is an excellent car in its own right, it appears to be outclassed by its competitors in this particular race.
