BYD, a Chinese automaker, is launching its new electric vehicle, the Sealion 7, to challenge the dominance of Tesla’s Model Y in the European market. The Sealion 7 is a crossover with a more practical and spacious design, rivaled by the tesla Model Y. It has a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase, is 3.2 inches longer overall, and features a sloping roofline. Inside, it has a 15.6-inch central screen that rotates for landscape and portrait orientations, and plenty of physical controls. The seats are covered in quilted Nappa leather and soft vegan leather, with an electric cover for the full-length panoramic glass roof. The Sealion 7 has a battery choice, with a big battery option offering 380 miles of range on a single charge. It also has a fast-charging system, allowing for 0-80% charge in 25 minutes, and a top speed of 133mph. The vehicle will be produced in Hungary, bypassing European import duties, and is expected to be the first model to come out of BYD’s new production facility. The company plans to launch six new EVs in Europe by 2025, aiming to challenge Tesla’s dominance in the market.
