STEER World, a global leader in materials transformation technologies, has unveiled its netiBIO Alpha Series, a next-generation bio-processor designed to transform biomass pretreatment for India’s bioenergy sector. The machine was showcased at IBET 2025, a conference organized by the Indian Federation of Green Energy, which featured participation from key Union Ministers, highlighting the Indian government’s commitment to scaling up clean energy and compressed biogas (CBG) initiatives.

India’s current CBG projects face significant challenges due to the use of untreated, fibrous biomass, resulting in low methane yields and prolonged digestion cycles. The netiBIO Alpha Series directly addresses these challenges with its compact footprint, modular design, low CAPEX and OPEX, and high efficiency pretreatment capabilities. The system is built specifically for India’s tough biomass conditions and can process large-scale, continuous pretreatment solutions to handle tougher biomass like paddy straw and Napier grass.

The netiBIO Alpha Series offers several benefits, including delivering large-scale throughput, accelerating digestion and improving yields, reducing costs and energy use, enabling farmer value creation, supporting sustainability goals, and integrating seamlessly with both new and existing biodigesters. At IBET 2025, the netiBIO Alpha successfully processed Napier grass and paddy straw, showcasing its ability to open tough biomass structures and create process-ready feedstock at scale.

According to Nitin Gupta, Executive Director and Global CEO of STEER World, the netiBIO Alpha is a “Make-in-India” solution purpose-built for India’s tough biomass, offering a compact, efficient, and scalable solution that improves methane yields and project viability while enabling a farm-to-fuel model that benefits farmers and the environment. Rajaraman C, Chief Operating Officer of STEER World, added that the netiBIO Alpha bridges the critical gap in India’s CBG projects, requiring large-scale pretreatment of fibrous residues like paddy straw and Napier, with a small footprint, modular design, and low CAPEX/OPEX, ensuring faster ROI for operators while contributing to the fight against stubble burning and emissions.

Overall, the netiBIO Alpha Series has the potential to transform India’s bioenergy sector by providing a scalable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for biomass pretreatment, enabling the country to achieve its sustainability goals and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. With its compact design and low operating costs, the netiBIO Alpha Series is well-suited to support India’s rapidly expanding bioenergy sector and contribute to the country’s efforts to become carbon neutral.
