Swiss leisure airline Edelweiss Air is overhauling its long-haul fleet by replacing its Airbus A340-300s with Airbus A350-900s. The airline has acquired the A350s from LATAM and initially maintained the same interiors, but plans to retrofit the aircraft with new cabins. Edelweiss has now unveiled the details of its new A350 cabins, which have the motto “More room to feel good.” The design inspiration comes from comfortable, inviting sofas, and the interior exudes a sense of calm while conveying a high-quality and contemporary feel.<\/p>\n
The new cabins will feature reduced forms, clean lines, and selectively used patterns, with fine details and high-quality workmanship underscoring the premium standard in all travel classes. The color scheme has been deliberately reduced to create a sense of calm and harmony, with shades of blue characterizing the overall appearance.<\/p>\n
In economy class, seats will offer approximately three centimeters more legroom and a greater seat tilt angle compared to the previous cabin. Premium economy will consist of 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, with a hard-shell seat and an expanded meal service. Business class will be in a 1-2-1 configuration, with direct aisle access from all seats, and will feature the Thompson Aero Vantage XL product without a door.<\/p>\n
The airline will also introduce a “business class plus” product, the Edelweiss Business Suite, which will feature larger entertainment monitors and a larger footwell. The updated A350s will also feature improved technology, including free Starlink Wi-Fi, 4K screens with Bluetooth audio connectivity, and an updated in-flight entertainment system.<\/p>\n
The retrofitting of the A350s will begin in December 2026, with the first aircraft entering service, and all five aircraft will be equipped with the new cabins by the summer of 2027. The rollout is expected to be completed in a period of around seven months, which is a relatively quick timeline. Overall, Edelweiss is modernizing its long-haul fleet with new cabins and improved technology, which is expected to enhance the passenger experience.<\/p>\n
