A garbage contractor in Navi Mumbai was attacked by two bike-borne assailants on Friday morning. Rajaram Thoke, 48, was fired at six times, with four bullets hitting him in his abdomen, shoulder, and leg. The shooting occurred when Thoke, who holds a contract to collect and dispose of garbage for the APMC market in Turbhe, was visiting the NMMC ward office in Sanpada. The pillion rider did the shooting, and the attackers fled the scene after firing. The police, led by DCP Pankaj Dahane, recovered a fired bullet shell from the road and are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the assailants. Thoke is receiving treatment, and an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the shooting.
