Top IT services companies like TCS and Infosys are stepping up their lateral hiring efforts in response to a possible chill in the hiring market. TCS has announced walk-in interviews for tech workers on March 22 in five cities, including Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Kolkata, for various positions such as Automation Tester, Java Developers, and Data Scientist. The company is looking for candidates with 3-6 years of experience to fill open positions, which are likely due to attrition and new projects.
Infosys, another major software giant, has also launched a similar effort, seeking candidates for 40+ skill sets, including cloud computing, cyber security, and automation testing, with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The company had previously conducted a similar walk-in recruitment drive last year.
Both companies are seeking to fill vacant positions and support ongoing and new projects, as well as small projects they are handling. The hiring drives are part of their annual lateral hiring programs, which help them bring in talent from the outside to complement their internal recruitment efforts.
The number of vacant positions and the hiring numbers are not yet available, but sources indicate that TCS and Infosys plan to fill a significant number of positions. This development is a positive sign for job seekers in the IT sector, which has been experiencing a decline in hiring in recent months. The companies’ efforts to fill open positions through lateral hiring could also provide opportunities for professionals who may not have fit the usual criteria for internal hiring.
