Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) has launched a new initiative to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility by partnering with Tata Motors Re.Wi.Re to dispose of obsolete vehicles through a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF). The program was launched at the company’s Sukinda Chromite Mine campus in Jajpur, India.
The initiative aims to ensure responsible and eco-friendly disposal of end-of-life vehicles, in line with the Government of India’s Vehicle Scrappage Policy. The program will dismantle and recycle vehicles in an environmentally friendly manner, recovering valuable components such as steel and other metals, and reducing the need for virgin resources.
This move is part of Tata Steel’s broader sustainability agenda, which includes reducing carbon emissions and achieving a circular economy. By responsibly disposing and recycling vehicles, the company is minimizing its environmental footprint and setting an example for the industry to follow. The initiative is seen as a forward-thinking move, reflecting the company’s commitment to both industrial excellence and environmental stewardship.
This program is expected to pave the way for other companies to adopt similar practices, advancing the drive towards a greener and more sustainable future. The launch of this initiative marks a significant milestone in Tata Steel’s journey towards sustainability, highlighting the importance of environmental responsibility and corporate social responsibility.
