A major disaster was narrowly averted in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district when a private travel bus collided with a tanker carrying hydrochloric acid on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway. The accident, which occurred on Thursday, triggered panic among the passengers as dense chemical fumes enveloped the area due to the leakage of the acid. However, thanks to the quick thinking of the passengers, everyone on board the bus escaped unhurt through the emergency exit.

The bus, belonging to Jagan Travels, had around 30-40 passengers on board and was traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru when it hit the tanker from the rear, causing the leakage. The passengers were able to escape safely, and the travel company arranged an alternate bus for them to continue their journey. Fire engines were rushed to the spot, and the firefighters were able to cap the leakage and pour water to control the fumes.

The accident caused a huge traffic jam near the Macharam Flyover, but fortunately, no one was injured in the collision. The tanker was carrying acid from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad. The incident is the latest in a series of accidents involving buses in the Telugu states over the past month. In recent weeks, there have been several fatal accidents, including a head-on collision between an RTC bus and a tipper truck that claimed 19 lives, and a private bus catching fire after running over a motorbike, killing 19 people.

The recent spate of accidents has raised concerns about road safety in the region. The authorities have been urged to take measures to prevent such accidents and ensure the safety of passengers. In this case, the quick response of the passengers and the emergency services helped prevent a major disaster. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and emergency preparedness on the roads.
