The HCL Cyclothon Hyderabad 2025, a premier cycling event, took place on Sunday, attracting a record-breaking 1,900 cyclists from across India. Organized by the HCL Group in collaboration with the government of Telangana and the Cycling Federation of India, the event aimed to promote fitness, sustainability, and community spirit. This year’s theme, “Change Your Gear,” highlighted the transformative power of cycling in enhancing physical and mental well-being, as well as environmental awareness.
The event was inaugurated by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, who praised the initiative, stating that events like the HCL Cyclothon demonstrate the growing awareness about fitness, sustainability, and community well-being. Sundar Mahalingam, president of strategy at HCL Group, and Maninder Singh, secretary general of the Cycling Federation of India, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of cycling in promoting a healthier and greener India.
The race, which started and ended at the Prime Arena in Osman Nagar, took participants through Hyderabad’s scenic urban and green corridors. The event offered a substantial prize purse of ₹33.6 lakh, attracting professional cyclists from across the country. In the Professional Elite Race, which covered a distance of 50 kilometers, Harshveer Singh Sekhon from Punjab and Pooja Baban Danole from Maharashtra emerged as champions in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
