World Green Energy (WGE) has taken a significant step in expanding India’s solar manufacturing capabilities by signing a land sublease agreement with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (TSSEZL) for 50 acres at Gopalpur Industrial Park. This agreement will enable WGE to establish a two-gigawatt (GW) TOPCon solar cell and 1.2 GW TOPCon solar module manufacturing facility, leveraging cutting-edge technology to produce high-efficiency solar products.

The facility will cater to both domestic and international markets, bolstering India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem and supporting the country’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2047. The partnership between WGE and TSSEZL is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, with the potential to create new job opportunities and enhance skills in the region.

Tata Steel SEZ has highlighted the strategic importance of Gopalpur Industrial Park as a hub for sustainable industrial growth, underscoring Odisha’s role in India’s clean energy transition. The state is poised to play a key role in the country’s renewable energy ambitions, with the development of a robust solar supply chain.

The launch of the advanced TOPCon solar facility is a notable development in India’s solar manufacturing expansion, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition to clean energy. With the support of initiatives like this, India is well on its way to achieving its renewable energy targets and reducing its carbon footprint.

The partnership between WGE and TSSEZL is a testament to the growing importance of sustainable energy solutions in India, and the role that private sector companies can play in supporting the country’s clean energy transition. As India continues to push forward with its renewable energy ambitions, collaborations like this are likely to become increasingly important in driving growth and development in the sector.
