The program, launched at a single school, now supports over 20 schools and 4,000 students in Jojobera and nearby villages in Jharkhand. The initiative focuses on practical learning in areas such as energy conservation, sustainability, and basic robotics, with dedicated STEM labs and subject-specific instructors.
The program aims to improve scientific understanding through hands-on activities, including experiments and project-based tasks. Students also participate in visits to the Jojobera Thermal Power Plant, where they can observe power generation processes and connect classroom concepts with industrial operations. This experiential learning approach has shown promising results, with some schools associated with the initiative reporting success in national-level STEM competitions.
One notable achievement is a group of students winning an award in Bengaluru, reflecting the growing interest in science and technology fields among participants. The curriculum has been updated to include robotics, and plans are underway to introduce a Club Enerji Bootcamp for senior secondary students. The bootcamp will feature site visits to energy facilities, science museums, and technology parks, further enhancing the students’ learning experience.
In addition to the STEM program, Tata Power has announced plans to form a volunteer group, called Enerji Mittras, to raise awareness about energy conservation and green energy practices within the wider community.
