S.D. Shibulal, co-founder of Infosys, and his wife Kumari Shibulal are bringing a unique cultural center to South Bengaluru. The center, called Sangamam India, will be a 20,000 sq ft space dedicated to promoting Indian classical music, art, dance, theater, and folk forms. The facility will feature an auditorium, exhibition hall, and training center, and will serve as a platform for artists to perform, teach, and mentor.

The idea for Sangamam India was born out of the couple’s admiration for Indian heritage and culture. Kumari Shibulal noted that music and art can bring people together and transcend boundaries and differences. The couple’s vision is to revive, conserve, and celebrate India’s cultural treasures, and to bridge the gap between the past and present.

Sangamam India was established in 2022, and has been hosting events at different auditoriums in the city. The organization has been bringing national and local artists to the city, and has been hosting two major events every six months, along with monthly events throughout the year. However, with the new center, Sangamam India will have a dedicated space to host events, exhibitions, and training programs.

The new center is expected to be completed in 18 months and will be located in J.P. Nagar. The facility will have a three-floor building, with an auditorium that can seat 270 people, an exhibition hall, and a training center on the third floor. The center will also have parking space, making it easily accessible to visitors.

S.D. Shibulal emphasized the need for a dedicated space for art and culture in South Bengaluru, and expressed his excitement about the upcoming center. He noted that the center will provide a platform for various art forms, including stand-up comedy, and will serve as a place for artists to teach and mentor.

Overall, Sangamam India aims to promote India’s rich cultural heritage and provide a platform for artists to showcase their talents. The new center will be a valuable addition to the cultural landscape of Bengaluru, and will provide a unique space for art, music, and culture to thrive. With its completion, Sangamam India will be able to host a wide range of events and activities, and will serve as a hub for cultural exchange and learning.
