Tata Steel Foundation has taken a significant step towards protecting the environment and promoting biodiversity by dedicating a renovated pond to the community in Guali, near Joda, in the Keonjhar district. The initiative aims to conserve water in the region and enhance community amenities, aligning with the company’s efforts to give back to the society. The renovated pond was formally dedicated on World Environment Day, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The dedication ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Kabindra Naik, Chairman, Joda Block, and Bidyadhar Nayak, Sarpanch, Guali Gram Panchayat, as well as senior officials from Tata Steel, Atul Kumar Bhatnagar and Deepak Behera. The renovation of the pond has not only improved its aesthetic appeal but also provided separate bathing areas for men and women, promoting hygiene and sanitation. Eco-friendly toilet facilities and sanitation amenities have also been constructed near the pond, further enhancing the community’s access to basic amenities.
To commemorate the occasion, a plantation drive was organized, involving community members, where 500 saplings were planted.
