The New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop 7 gigawatt (GW) renewable energy projects in Andhra Pradesh. This collaboration is in line with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to position the state as a leader in India’s renewable energy sector. The projects will attract an estimated investment of Rs 49,000 crores, create approximately 33,000 jobs, and help reduce 318 million tons of CO₂ emissions, further strengthening the government’s efforts to achieve its climate goals.

As part of the MoU, NREDCAP will facilitate the implementation of renewable energy projects by identifying, examining, selecting, and allotting land for setting up the projects, obtaining required statutory clearances, and providing necessary land and facilities for the transmission of power. TPREL will carry out preliminary assessments and feasibility studies for the identified projects and prepare detailed proposals for efficient execution.

The MoU is seen as a key milestone in securing Andhra Pradesh’s energy future and contributing to the country’s overall renewable energy targets. IT Minister Lokesh emphasized the role of green energy initiatives in addressing global challenges such as climate change and pollution. The development of 7 GW of renewable energy projects will help meet both local and national energy demands sustainably, according to Chief Secretary K Vijayanand, who added that this initiative will pave the way for a cleaner, greener, and energy-secure future for the state.
