Suzlon Energy Limited, a company in the renewable energy sector, has secured its largest Commercial and Industrial (C&I) order to date, worth 204.75 MW from Jindal Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables. This order marks the third deal between the two companies, with the total capacity increasing to 907.20 MW. The new order involves the supply of 65 S144 wind turbine generators, each with a 3.15 MW capacity, to be installed in the Karur region of Tamil Nadu. The generated power will be used for captive consumption at Jindal Steel’s plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, contributing to the company’s decarboxization efforts.

The deal follows two previous orders worth 702.45 MW, and C&I customers now account for 59% of Suzlon’s order book, which has reached a record 5.9 GW. Suzlon’s Vice Chairman, Girish Tanti, praised the partnership, highlighting its role in promoting the Low CO2 Steel movement in India. Jindal Renewables’ President, Bharat Saxena, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to leading the decarbonization movement in the steel industry, aiming to develop 12 GW of renewable energy assets, storage facilities, and green hydrogen production by 2030.

Suzlon Group’s CEO, JP Chalasani, emphasized the company’s expertise in providing renewable energy solutions for hard-to-abate sectors like steel manufacturing. Jindal Renewables is currently developing nearly 3 GW of renewable assets and has set a goal to develop 6 GW of installed capacity globally. Suzlon Group has installed around 20.9 GW of wind energy capacity across 17 countries and manages approximately 15 GW of assets in India.
