Sunil Bharti Mittal, the chairman of Bharti Enterprises, has been awarded the honorary title of Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) by King Charles III of the United Kingdom. The investiture ceremony, held at the British High Commissioner’s residence in New Delhi, was attended by friends and family. According to the British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, Mittal’s significant investments in the UK, including BT, Gleneagles, Norlake Hospitality, and OneWeb, have made a lasting impact on the UK-India partnership.

Mittal’s recognition is seen as a testament to his efforts to foster closer ties between the two nations. As a business leader, Mittal has been instrumental in leading the Indian business delegation to the UK, meeting with top officials, including Prime Minister Starmer, the Foreign Secretary, and the Chancellor, to identify opportunities for joint economic growth. The award is seen as a significant honor, underscoring Mittal’s commitment to strengthening India-UK relations.

In his response, Mittal expressed his gratitude and humility in receiving the KBE medal, acknowledging it as a privilege and a responsibility.
