The Flag Foundation Day was celebrated with great patriotism and nationalist spirit across Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) units in Odisha, specifically in Barbil, Kasia, and Tensa. The celebrations honored the Indian National Flag and the country’s right to display it freely with dignity and pride, as enshrined in the Supreme Court verdict of January 23, 2004. The verdict, led by Naveen Jindal, Chairman of JSP and President of the Flag Foundation of India, declared flying the National Flag a fundamental right of Indian citizens under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.
The National Flag was unfurled by unit heads at Barbil Pellet Plant and Kasia and TRB Mines, Tensa, in the presence of employees and business associates. The event was a tribute to the tireless efforts of Naveen Jindal in fighting for the right to display the National Flag. The Flag Foundation of India, established by Naveen Jindal and Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of Jindal Foundation, aims to promote the significance of the National Flag through various initiatives.
The foundation has installed 163 monumental flags across India, including 8 in Odisha, as part of its mission. Naveen Jindal urged every citizen to adopt the motto “Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Din Tiranga” and let the Tiranga inspire collective dedication to nation-building. The event concluded with renewed enthusiasm and pride as employees pledged to uphold the values represented by the Tiranga – a symbol of India’s unity in diversity. The celebration reinforced the importance of the National Flag and the need to cherish and protect it.
