The government of Telangana has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JSW UAV Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Defence, to establish a state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAV) manufacturing facility in the state. The project, which is expected to generate over 200 high-value jobs, is a significant milestone in Telangana’s journey to become a hub for cutting-edge technology and defence innovation. JSW UAV, in collaboration with a leading US-based defence technology company, will invest approximately Rs 800 crore in the project.

The MoU was signed at a ceremony, where Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu expressed his delight with the agreement, saying it will set a positive trend in the sector and that the state will strive to make Telangana the largest manufacturing hub in the country. Minister for IT and Industries, Revanth Reddy, welcomed the investment, highlighting Telangana’s growth as a preferred destination for advanced technology investments and employment opportunities. He praised the state’s transformation from being a leader in software and pharma sectors to now exploring other areas such as semiconductors, defence, private space, and FMCG for investment.

The project is expected to further solidify Telangana’s position as an attractive destination for foreign investment, particularly in the manufacturing sector. The state government’s efforts to position itself as a “China Plus One” strategy, a strategy to attract investments from global companies looking to diversify their production bases, are now yielding results. The project will not only create jobs but also attract more foreign investments, supporting the state’s economic growth and development.
