Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founder and executive vice chairman of InfoEdge, has come to the defense of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Chairman SN Subrahmanyan, who faced backlash for his comments on 90-hour workweeks for employees. Bikhchandani wrote about a meeting he had with Subramanyan in November 2024, describing him as “humble, amiable, and affable”. During their hour-long meeting, Subramanyan wanted to learn about Bikhchandani’s story, entrepreneurship, and investments in startups. Bikhchandani also shared his own thoughts on deploying L&T’s cash in startups, as he believes India needs domestic venture capital. The two agreed to meet again to discuss ideas, with Bikhchandani leaving the meeting impressed by Subramanyan’s demeanor. He shared the email invite from the meeting as proof, and defended Subramanyan’s character, despite the backlash.
