Tata Steel Limited has received an adjudication order from the Collector of Stamps, Enforcement-I, Mumbai, Government of Maharashtra, imposing a penalty of ₹1,46,14,380 on the company. The penalty is for belatedly filing a stamp-duty application and making late payment of stamp duty. The order relates to the company’s amalgamation with The Tinplate Company of India Limited, which was approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on October 20, 2023. The penalty is related to the implementation of the scheme of amalgamation. Tata Steel is expected to make payments to the concerned authority.
