Four law firms advise on JSW Energy’s $1.47 billion acquisition of O2

JSW Energy has acquired O2 Power and its subsidiaries from EQT Infrastructure and Temasek for $1.47 billion. The deal marks one of the largest in the renewable energy sector and the largest acquisition in JSW Energy’s history. Khaitan & Co advised JSW Energy on the acquisition, with partners Haigreve Khaitan, Siddharth Shah, and Akhil Bhatnagar leading the team. Herbert Smith Freehills advised on the English law aspects of the transaction, while Trilegal acted for EQT and Temasek on their sale of O2 Power. A&O Shearman also acted for EQT and Temasek, with partners Ayesha Thapar, Harsh Pais, and James Mythen leading the team. The acquisition marks a significant milestone for JSW Energy and the renewable energy sector in India, which is experiencing rapid growth.
