Yashas Seizes Lead, Mane Just a Step Behind in Thrilling Finish at Tata Steel Golf Tournament

Yashas Chandra of Mysuru leads the Tata Steel Tour Championship in Jamshedpur after the third round, shooting a flawless 5-under 66 to total 14-under 199. He is one stroke ahead of Udayan Mane, a two-time champion, who shot a 68 to finish 13-under 200. Sudhir Sharma and N Thangaraja are tied for third place at 12-under 201. Yashas, 29, made four birdies on the front nine and added another on the 12th hole, but couldn’t make any putts fall on the back nine, settling for a strong round. Udayan Mane made steady progress, picking up four birdies but missing out on a few putts. The tournament, with a prize purse of Rs 3 crore, is the season-ending event of the PGTI. The format of the event is unique, with half the field playing the first nine holes at Golmuri Golf Course and the second nine at Beldih Golf Course, with the same format to be followed in the final round. The top players are competing for the top spot, with Yashas looking to win his first title.
