Tata Steel has launched an all-women shift at its Noamundi Iron Mine, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to create an equitable workplace and empower women in traditionally male-dominated industries. The shift will comprise women employees in various roles, including Heavy Earth Moving Machinery operators, shovel, loader, drill, and dozer operators, as well as shift supervision. This initiative builds on Tata Steel’s previous diversity initiatives, including “Women@Mines” and “Tejaswini,” which aimed to recruit and train women from local communities to operate Heavy Earth Moving Machinery and participate in the mining ecosystem. The company has been working to create more opportunities for women in the mining industry, and this all-women shift is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
