The Tata Steel World 25K race in Kolkata is set to take place on Sunday, with a strong field of competitors, including defending champions Daniel Ebenyo and Sutume Kebede. The event, which offers a total prize money of $142,214, will feature a flat and cool course, posing a threat to the event records. Ebenyo and Kebede are aiming to lower their own records, 1:11.13 and 1:18:47, respectively, and claim the winner’s purse of $15,000 each, as well as a $5,000 record bonus. The event also attracts Olympic bronze medallist Benson Kipruto, Indian athletes such as Sawan Barwal, Gulveer Singh, Abhishek Pal, Sanjivani Jadhav, and Lili Das, with the Indian winners receiving a prize of ₹3 lakh each and an additional ₹1 lakh for an event record. A total of 20,537 runners have registered for the event.
