Bosch is investing $1.9 billion in its Roseville, California facility to produce advanced silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors. The project is supported by the CHIPS and Science Act, which provides up to $225 million in funding. The facility will initially employ around 250 people, but will see significant growth as it begins producing chips on 200-millimeter wafers by 2026. The investment is a key part of Bosch’s strategy to bolster its semiconductor capabilities in the US and secure domestic supply chains. In addition, the company is providing training for its workforce and has donated $100,000 to the Sierra College Foundation to enhance technical education. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the local community and could lead to a reshaped semiconductor market landscape. With the growing demand for advanced semiconductors, Bosch is poised to drive innovation and sustainability in technology production. The company’s investment in the US is also expected to encourage other semiconductor manufacturers to invest in the country, leading to a more competitive market.
