Air India Express is set to launch two new flight routes from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar, connecting the city to Bengaluru and Bangkok. The flights will operate four times a week and will enhance the region’s connectivity. The introduction of these flights is seen as a boost to inbound tourism to Punjab and is expected to bring economic benefits to the region. The FlyAmritsar Initiative, a voluntary advocacy campaign, has been promoting improved air connectivity to Amritsar and welcomes the new flights. The initiative has been working to highlight the benefits of increased international and domestic flights to the city. The FlyAmritsar Initiative is urging the state government to take proactive measures to link the airport to major cities across Punjab and to choose Amritsar Airport over Delhi to ensure the success of the new routes. With these new flights, Amritsar will offer a total of eight weekly connections to Bangkok, providing passengers more choices and flexibility. The introduction of Air India Express flights is expected to increase competition and potentially reduce fares.
