BYD, a Chinese automaker, has unveiled a revolutionary new hybrid SUV at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. Dubbed the Yue, it features a unique ” floating” design and a unique “swimming” function. The car’s body is designed to look like it’s floating on air, with a sleek, streamlined shape and a futuristic-looking roof that appears to be suspended in mid-air.
The “swimming” function is enabled by a patented technology that allows the car to adjust its height and attitude to adapt to different driving conditions. The car can raise itself by up to 2.2 inches to improve ground clearance, steeper approach and departure angles, and better handling on rough roads. It can also lower itself to reduce drag and improve aerodynamics, and even raise one side to help it climb steep inclines.
The Yue is powered by a combination of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and an electric motor, generating a total output of 214 horsepower. It features a futuristic interior with a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen display and a host of advanced safety features, including a 3D driver monitoring system. The BYD Yue is expected to hit production lines later this year, with prices starting at around $30,000.
